Gabriel’s interest in cooking started when he was very young. He would spend time after school in the kitchen watching his mum prepare meals for the family. Gabriel started experimenting different cuisines on his own about 10 years ago. He fell in love with Italian cuisine due to its simplicity and the genuine flavour from the fresh seasonal ingredients.

As Gabriel continued to experiment, he started to develop his own cooking style and created his own dishes. Encouragingly, he received many compliments from friends whom he hosted at home for festive meals. This, together with his passion in continuing experimenting and creating new dishes, have led Gabriel into pursuing Cuoco (Chef) Certificate from the Chef Academy in Terni Italy in Feb 2014, followed by an internship at Kingham Plough, an award winning English Fine Dining GastroPub in Oxfordshire village of Kingham, England.

Upon his return, Gabriel started operating and hosting private degustation dinners with wine pairing at his own home in Singapore in Aug 2014, which was a fairly new concept during that time. In the meantime, he also took the opportunity to work as CDP at Forlino (an Italian Fine Dining Restaurant in Singapore) in Nov 2014 for 12 months to hone his skills, while he continued to operate his private dining service.

It was from this private dining business that Gabriel established a loyal group of customers who enjoyed his creations. Due to space constraint at home, he was only able to accommodate up to six pax at any given time. As the demand to host larger group in recent years increased, he finally decided to further live his dream by setting up a physical restaurant, 8picure, which offers a similar cosy ambience like his home, while providing tasty dishes and joy to his guests.

8picure started operation on 22 Dec 2018 after 5 months of planning. Chef Academy culinary course helped Gabriel design and plan for the menu while his experiences from Kingham Plough and Forlino helped design and plan his kitchen, taking into consideration the day-to-day seamless kitchen operation all the way from the front dining to ensure optimal flow and efficiency.

At 8picure, Gabriel aspires to achieve a perfect balance between delicious dishes and a personable dining experience. In the kitchen, he takes great pride in finding the best ingredients for every dish he serves and marries precise culinary technique with loving respect for their ingredients. Gabriel also understands the importance of pairing fine cuisine with beautiful wine/sake/spirits and good service. The moment his guests walk into 8picure, they are his guests to be pampered and well taken care of.

Since opening in Dec 2018, they have been very honoured to have the opportunity to host many private events (Birthdays, Wedding anniversary, Corporate Team Lunch/Dinner/Celebration) and also an intimate wedding banquet, in addition to their daily walk-in diners.
