Florian Sander

Founder & Managing Director
iThink Consulting Group

Founder and Managing Director of iThink Consulting Group, Florian Sander (a.k.a. Flo) is one of the region’s most creative and innovative minds in the hospitality design industry. Flo has designed and built winning concepts such as CRAFT™, playlab™, as well as the award-winning “Employees Only” in Hong Kong. Founded in 2009 as a hospitality consultancy focusing on research and feasibility, iThink Consulting Group has since evolved into designing turn-key hospitality solutions, providing end-to-end services for new projects from research through to concept development, interior design, project management and marketing.

Before setting up his own hospitality consulting business, Flo was the Vice President and Head of Hospitality, Asia ex-Japan at Goldman Sachs (Asia) LLC, prior to which he was the Director of Food and Beverages for the esteemed Hong Kong Jockey Club, from 2004 until 2007. At the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Flo also spearheaded the extensive renovation projects of the Happy Valley and Sha Tin racecourses and was the Chairman of the Fine Wine Purchasing Group where he oversaw a wine cellar of over 30,000 bottles. Early in his career, Flo developed both La Scala (2002) and Cy'an (2003), restaurants in Bangkok which have received worldwide acclaim and have continually been awarded to be amongst Thailand’s best restaurants and hot spots. Furthermore, he was responsible for the pre-opening planning of the Food and Beverage department of The Metropolitan Bangkok.

Flo obtained a BoS in International Hospitality Management with honours from the École Hôtelière de Lausanne in 2001 and has been a member of the executive committee of the École Hôtelière de Lausanne Alumni Association since 2005 in Hong Kong where he has also been an advisory board member of the Asian University for Women (AUW) charity committee since 2009. In 2017 he was invited to join the Soho House Membership Advisory Committee in Singapore.

Flo’s recently completed conservation projects include the reconfiguration of Ann Siang House in Singapore’s Chinatown, which was recently acquired by 8M Real Estate, Singapore's largest owner of conservation shophouses. Originally envisioned by Paul Semple and Matthew Shang at Distillery, Flo interpreted 8M’s new extended stay accommodation format of Ann Siang House by unveiling adjustments to the in-room amenities, additional new common areas, a distinctive re-curation of the furniture and artwork, and a bold new vision for the exterior façade. Another project that showcases Flo’s penchant for transformational design is his latest work on 55 Keong Saik Road. Set to bring a thoughtfully designed 61-room boutique hotel and a host of exciting F&B tenants to Keong Saik, the row of 10 contiguous shophouses joins iThink’s existing portfolio of innovative projects.
